Queen of the Sun
I watched this film last night, very amazing visuals and an eye opener to what is going on with our vital resource. We are wanting to start our own backyard bee colony this spring. It saddens me to think what we have done with what God has given us to care for but I am encouraged at the same time that there are those in our world that are willing to reverse that damage.
Synopsis: Bees are a barometer of the health
of the world, and with the current Colony Collapse Disorder, we are in a state
of emergency. Once a sacred partnership, the bond between humans and bees has
become a profit-driven exploitation. Here, the unsung heroes dedicated to the
survival of bees are highlighted: from poets and philosophers to scientists and
shamans, from political activists to biodynamic beekeepers. In 1923, he
predicted that the continued practice of artificial queen bee-breeding would
bring about the demise of the honeybee. Now, pesticides, herbicides, and
genetically engineered plants exacerbate the problem, and the current bee crisis
confirms Steiner's dire predictions.
